(CDBG) Community Development Block Grant. 

  • The 2013 CDBG grant allocation for the street improvements to Hillcrest Drive and West Enterprise from (Hanover Street to Lincoln Avenue) is complete including Gemini Street.

  • The 2014 CDBG grant for street improvements to West Church Street from (Hanover Street to Main Street) are complete. ADA ramps were installed where none existed. Multiple sidewalks raised from tree root growth were removed and reinstalled.

  • The 2015 CDBG Grant will be installation of necessary ADA Ramps City wide. This project was awarded to Artitic of Dunmore. The City Engineer composed a list of necessary areas without handicap ramps or those that the design is now antiquated. Milling and ADA forms have begun.

  • The 2016 CDBG Grant allocation for the street improvements of West Green Street from (Hanover Street to Main Street) is complete except for grass planting.

  • The CDBG Grant Application, FY 2017, purchased a new Fire Apparatus. The 2019 Pierce Pumper arrived in the City January 8, 2019. Thank you to Chief Hazleton for his help in searching for an appropriate piece of equipment.

  • The CDBG 2018 application was approved for street improvements to State Street from Prospect Street to Main Street and Fairchild Street from West Church to Main Street. This activity meets HUD"S National objective for the low mod area by census data. The bid was awarded to M&J Construction and milling began, July 2019.

 

The 2019 CDBG Grant application is due early November 2019. The first public hearing for residents, will be held 6:30PM on September 18, 2019 in City Hall Council Chambers, before the monthly Council meeting starting at 7:00PM. We encourage residents to attend and give their input on projects. Please see the announcement on the website home page for more details.
