for Santa
Christmas
in the Park was held on Sunday, December 14, 2008 beginning
at 1:30 p.m. with a parade starting at the High School,
down Green St. to Patriot's Park.
Santa arrived around 2 p.m. He was there in his own
area to greet the children. They received gifts and
goodies and much more.
Thanks to all that participated.
This is a combined effort of the City of Nanticoke,
Civic Pride Committee, South Valley Chamber of Commerce,
The Firefighters of Nanticoke, and L.C.C.C. volunteers
that were there to help.
Our Halloween parade was held @
Nanticoke City Hall on
Saturday, October 25, 2008.
Everyone had a scary, gory great time.... Click

Once again our Christmas in the Park was a great success.
Although the skies were threatening, and there was a
chance of freezing rain, everyone had a great time.
We want to thank the following people for their help
and participation:
The South Valley
Chamber.
The Nanticoke Fire Department who donated their services
and Hot Chocolate.
LCCC Culinary Arts for the delicious cookies.

providing us with the lovely Christmas Carols.
Jerry Hudak for bringing Santa Claus to us.
Mayor John Bushko and City Council.
All the people & organizations that were in the
parade.
Most of all, to the citizens of Nanticoke for making
our Christmas in the Park a great success once again. Click

Yard sale, hunt helpers lauded
Times Leader
On Oct.
6, the Nanticoke Civic Pride Committee sponsored another
citywide yard sale with a treasure hunt. More than 250
people participated in the sale and more than 350 maps
were given out. Many of the participants were from out
of town.
The yard sale is not only for our citizens to sell their
items, but a chance to meet neighbors and people from
all over. It also gives people a chance to see our beautiful
city and what we have to offer, not only now, but in the
future.
I want to thank:
the Nanticoke Civic Pride Committee, Mayor John
Bushko, Yvonne Bozinski, Theresa Sowa and Betci Cheshinski
for their help.
the girls in the city tax office who accepted phone
calls and made our maps and lists.
Dave Alberola from Emjaze Marketing Inc. for donating
his bench sign on Main and Market streets.
the Salvation Army, which sent one of its trucks
to take usable items.
The Times Leader for its well-written stories about
the yard sale.
Nanticoke citizens, who know that our city is growing
stronger each day.
The Civic Pride Committee not only works tirelessly on
the yard sale but on other community activities such as
our upcoming childrens Halloween parade. It will
be held for Nanticoke children from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 27
and our Santa Parade and party will be held in December.

with the numerous phone calls, Karen Dougherty who was
at Patriots Park at 7 a.m. each day passing out
maps and directories and entertaining the crowd and AllState

when we ran short at 10 a.m.
Also, a thank you goes to the South Valley Chamber of
Commerce, and Mayor John Bushko for all their help. And,
thank you to the local press for their wonderful coverage
